AJC: All Nations of Good Will Should Walk out on Durban Review and Ahmadinejad
April 19, 2009 - Geneva - AJC today reiterated its call for all nations of good will to withdraw entirely from the Durban Review Conference in Geneva, and urged those states who do attend to instruct their representatives to leave the hall when Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addresses the conference tomorrow.

"In the last two days, Australia, the Netherlands, and the United States have all pulled out, realizing that this conference is irredeemable," said AJC Executive Director David Harris. "Will Ahmadinejad now be allowed to spew more rank anti-Semitism from the podium of what purports to be a UN anti-racism conference? And will representatives of democratic countries simply sit there, smile, and nod - or will they do the right thing and turn their back on this hatemonger?"

Upon his departure for Geneva yesterday, Ahmadinejad told Iranian media, "Zionists have dominated the main media and monetary centers of the world to plunder nations by threats, smearing campaign and psychological war.Today the behavior of U.S. officials and Europe's parties and governments are dominated by Zionists. They have monetary and financial systems of the world and have kept nations in poverty and direct their money and fortune to their pockets."

Harris added, "Aren't these the unambiguous words of a bigot, a man who promotes unfettered racism? They have no place in any UN hall."
